Berliner Rudolf Virchow founded cellular pathology, and Robert Koch discovered the organisms that cause anthrax, tuberculosis, and cholera.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, Berlin has two major zoos, dozens of parks and plenty of green space. The Botanischer Garten, which includes the Botanic Museum Berlin, is one of the largest and most diverse gardens in the world. Berlin is also very friendly to cyclists, with its world famous bike trail system. Cyclists accounted for 12 percent of Berlin?s total traffic in 2007.
