Tuscany – The Wine Renaissance

It’s not only about the sunny Florence and the Renaissance. From the green gently rolling hills hemmed with landmark cypress trees in Chianti, to the superb island paradise of Elba in the Thyrrennian Sea, Tuscany in Italy reveals a rich special land of world-class art, wine and chic rural landscapes. And there’s also the Etruscan marvels in Fiesole, the overwhelming memory of Michelangelo and Leonardo in Arezzo, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Thermal baths of Saturnia and the striking Gothic architecture in Siena. Driving a red convertible Alfa Romeo Giulietta it’s probably the best way to explore them, but with so much quality wine available, we’ll perfectly understand if you go for one of the organised Tuscany walking tours that can reveal you its delights and yet create opportunities for wine-tasting.
The best time to plan your Tuscany holiday is in early autumn. The travel crowds are gone at the time, and the weather is deliciously mild. And most of the important events in Tuscany take place in fall. The wine, the truffle, the olive oil and the marrony chesnuts are all celebrated in autumn, a great opportunity to taste and bargain for souvenirs or quality ingredients for your own kitchen.
Depending on how much you wanna splurge and indulge, Tuscany accommodation can go from nice countryside apartments to as far as a castle in Tuscany where you can exercise being a nobleman (if not one already!). In between, an excellent option, especially if you’re travelling with the family or your group, would be a Tuscany villa rental. Based close to the chic Tuscany villages, in the heart of the vineyards, or offering nice views to the Tuscany coast, Tuscany villas have a medieval charm, with towers, thick walls and slit windows, internal courtyard and arches. They come with a view, a kitchen and a barbecue to organise your own meals, and often, a nice openair pool. A villa is probably the best way to stay close to the local traditions, people and nature, and most of the offers for Tuscany accommodation are specialised in Tuscany villa rentals. Admire its art, explore its chic rural paths, soak into its thermal baths, taste its delicious food, and watching the sun setting beyond the hilly landscape, toast a Chianti wine glass for the reverie of being here in Tuscany!
