It is thought that Aboriginal Australians were living along the length of the vicinity we recognise as the Queensland Gold Coast for over 22,000 before settlement by the early European arrivals. The location widely known as Mermaid Beach was in fact one of the first locations of the Gold Coast That where settled by Europeans.
