Sydney is the largest city in Australia. It has a population of four and a half million, and is a great place for a holiday as it is lively with lots of attractions and events, and great scenery. It is the perfect destination for everyone at any time of the year. Booking central Sydney hotels helps you to see more of this beautiful city.
The cultural diversity of Sydney is very evident in its food and drink. The Asian influence is especially strong. If you combine this with some of the best and freshest seafood around then you will see you are in for a treat. There is a huge choice of restaurants, with some being fine dining, whilst others are more everyday. All will offer a great choice of Australian wines.
The iconic Sydney Opera House is recognised around the world. It is not actually that old, but is already on the world heritage list. You can get a great behind the scenes tour here, and afterwards have breakfast in the green room. If you enjoy opera then think about booking their high tea, which is served to the accompaniment of opera in a room with fabulous views.
In fact there is a lot for culture lovers to see and do in this city. The art gallery of New South Wales has nearly forty different exhibitions annually. It has an impressive collection of art from around the world. In addition there are lots of smaller galleries that are well worth searching out.
Bondi Beach is great for surfers. You can find lots of surf shops here who will be more than willing to kit you out for surfing on this famous beach. If you do not want to surf then you can find a lot of other beaches that are more suitable for swimming or just working on your tan.
The oldest part of the city is called The Rocks, and is home to many interesting little shops and cafes, which are housed in colonial buildings. The area is rich in history and has been very well renovated. There are plenty of chances to learn about the area when you are walking around.
There are lots of islands in the harbour that merit a look. These include the famous Cockatoo Island, which is where former convicts used to be housed. You may visit the former prison, and the docks where the ships were built. It is possible to take a cruise to this and other islands.
There are lots of national parks near Sydney, so you can enjoy a day in the country without having to venture very far. If you go to Sydney Harbour National Park then you can enjoy looking back at the great skyline of Sydney. It is a really nice walk, and you can also visit Taronga Zoo here. Heathcote National Park is not far away and is also nice for walking.
If you book central Sydney hotels then you will be able to make the most of every moment of your holiday. There is a massive range of hotels to choose from. You will be able to find something suitable no matter what your budget is.
